There is quite a range of “standard” protocols for providing security over networks; TLS, SSH, IPsec are commonly used for a variety of purposes in the higher layers of a communications stack. MACsec (officially known as IEEE 802.1AE) works at the medium access layer and enables connectionless confidentiality and integrity between ethernet connected devices.

This webinar will explain MACsec’s place in network security and why it is used instead of, or in addition to, higher level security protocols. To get a better understanding of how MACsec can be used to secure embedded devices the webinar will include a detailed analysis of how the protocol works.
