HCC releases misra-compliant TCP/IPstack for TI hercules arm safety MCUs

HCC-Embedded today announced the release of a MISRA compliant TCP/IP stack for Texas Instruments’ (TI) Hercules™  ARM® Safety Microcontrollers (MCUs).

HCC’s MISRA-compliant embedded TCP/IP is a compact, high-quality stack that supports both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. It implements a strongly typed subset of the ‘C’ language that complies with the MISRA-C:2004 standard and is supplied with detailed test and verification reports.

First introduced by the automotive industry, MISRA has now developed into a ‘best-practice’ coding standard that is widely used in the medical, industrial, telecom and aerospace industries.  HCC has combined MISRA with its own rigorous coding standard to create a concise subset of the C language for use in embedded communications systems.  The result is clean, clear and robust code without ambiguities, appropriate for use in many safety critical embedded applications.

“At TI, we understand the chip is only the beginning of the safety design process,” says Dev Pradhan, Hercules safety MCU product line manager, TI. “Our goal is to provide a complete system solution with soft-ware, and through our robust ecosystem is one way we do this.  We’re excited to work with HCC to deliver the MISRA-compliant TCP/IP stack for our Hercules safety MCUs to deliver faster processing and certified solutions.”

The innovative stack design can process packets up to four times faster than some other widely available stacks and requires only 14KB of ROM and 12KB of RAM in a fully configured system. When coupled with the Hercules family’s advanced integrated safety features and performance, it provides an industry-leading standard of design integrity.

Abstractions are available to support many popular RTOSes, or it can be used without an RTOS, allowing engineers to choose what is appropriate for their project. The stack is available for immediate delivery on TMS570 and RM4x MCUs.
