HCC releases misra-compliant TCP/IP stack for microchip PIC32 devices

HCC-Embedded today announced the release of a MISRA compliant TCP/IP stack for PIC32 applications that require a high degree of integrity.

HCC’s MISRA-compliant embedded TCP/IP is a high-quality, high-performance stack that will reduce the risk and cost of using complex software in critical systems.  It implements a rigorous compliance with MISRA-C:2004.

First introduced by the automotive industry, MISRA has now developed into a ‘best-practice’ coding standard that is widely used in the medical, industrial, telecom and aerospace industries.  HCC has combined MISRA with its own rigorous coding standard to create a concise subset of the C language for use in embedded communications systems.  The result is clean, clear and robust code without ambiguities.  It is appropriate for use in the most critical embedded applications.

The stack for PIC32 is extremely fast, and it uses a minimum of resources.  The innovative design has tested up to four times faster than some widely available stacks when processing packets.  It requires only 14KB of ROM and 12KB of RAM in a fully configured system.

Compatibility is a key requirement for embedded systems.  The stack can be used with many RTOSes, or without an RTOS, thus allowing users the flexibility to choose what is appropriate for their needs.  Support for all PIC32 Ethernet based microcontrollers is available.
