Multi-Function Extension Board for Xilinx XtremeDSP Starter Platform

New York, NY and Budapest, Hungary – November 12, 2008 – HCC-Embedded, the foremost vendor of file systems and USB software for embedded applications, has released its XDSP‑MF‑EXB™ multi-function extension board for the Xilinx XtremeDSP Starter Platform. The XDSP‑MF‑EXB includes interfaces for USB host and device, Nand flash, Compact Flash, IDE/ATA and SD cards.

The extension board is designed to support some of the most common peripherals that are used in embedded systems. The peripherals, together with the included software stack, provide a versatile and powerful platform for quick evaluation and development of various FPGA-based embedded storage solutions.

The XDSP‑MF‑EXB includes the following components:

ISP1761 USB controller with two USB-A host connectors and one OTG USB interface with both host and device support.
Samsung NAND flash device, model K9F5608U0C
SD card connector with a three-mode interface: SD-4 bit, SD-1 bit and SPI
Compact Flash connector with a three-mode interface: memory, I/O and IDE/ATA, for connecting HDD, DVD or CF.
HCC-Embedded provides the necessary IP for interfacing to these modules. This includes a full SDIO controller for accessing SD cards at high speed.

The various I/O interfaces provided are complemented by HCC's industry-leading file system and USB stack product lines. Example programs can be provided to run with or without Xilkernel.

Failsafe file systems are available to run on the onboard flash of the starter platform, or on the NAND flash, SD card or Compact flash interfaces of the XDSP‑MF‑EXB.

Complete USB host and device stacks are available for use through the ISP1761 on the XDSP-MF-EXB.
