Budapest, Hungary and New York, NY – January 28, 2009 - HCC-Embedded, the foremost provider of file systems for embedded applications, today announced the release of V-NAND_FC™, a full-featured NAND flash controller that can be implemented on a small CPLD.

V-NAND_FC is used to connect NAND flash devices to microcontrollers that do not have integrated NAND controllers. Removal of the control burden from the microcontroller results in significant performance improvements and can remove serious bottlenecks. V-NAND-FC is designed for SLC-type NAND flash devices. It manages the NAND control lines and performs all ECC encoding and decoding. Offloading the ECC algorithm from the CPU to V-NAND-FC in itself has a marked positive effect on the throughput of any NAND-based system.
